AbstractThis paper presents the testing of a novel methodology in Brazil to locate Data Collection Platform (DCPs)using Doppler-shift calculations. Two transmitters were used with the Brazilian Data Collection Satellite (SCD-2), and their geographical coordinates were obtained with distance error of 2,1ñ0,03 km and 1,8ñ0,02 km, with extremes of 0,1 and 3,1 km and 0,8 and 4,8 km, respectively. These values can be accepted for common applications such as monitoring of buoys and animals.
